Itinerary:

DAY 1: NAIROBI - MAASAI MARA

We will come and pick your from your hotel, and depart by 0730hrs for the Mara via the old escarpment road. Before heading out of Nairobi, we will stop over at a convenience store so that you may but your desired drinks and drinking water. Enroute, we will stop over at the Rift Valley view point where you will be able to take loads of pictures of the scenery. We will then descend into the Rift Valley and cross over to Narok town. Here we will have a short break and then proceed to the Mara. We should be in the Mara towards early afternoon and we will have a game drive as we proceed to camp. At camp, we will have a late lunch, set up camp and leave for an evening game drive at 1600hrs. We will return to camp around 1830hrs for evening tea, to be followed by dinner.

DAY 2: MARA, WHOLE DAY GAME DRIVE

We start off the day early with a wake up call at 0600hrs. After a quick cup of tea, we depart for our early morning game drive at 0630hrs to seek out the big cats amongst the other vast variety of wildlife in the Mara. We will then return to camp at 0930hrs for breakfast. After freshening up, we will depart towards late morning for a picnic lunch on the Mara River and a whole day?s game drive. We will return to camp at 1830hrs for tea and followed by dinner. After dinner, you will be entertained by Maasai traditional dancers around the campfire and one of the dancers will talk to you about their cultural practises.

DAY 3: MARA - NAIVASHA

After breakfast, we will decamp and head out for Naivasha. We will have a game drive as we are heading out of the camp. We will stop over enroute for a picnic lunch and arrive at our cottage in Naivasha in the afternoon. You will have the opportunity to relax at camp for and freshen up for your safari to Mt. Kenya the following day. If you so wish, you may take a walk to the Lakeshore. In the evening dinner will be served.

DAY 4: NAIVASHA - MT KENYA  

After an early breakfast, we will decamp and head out to Mt. Kenya. Enroute we will stop over at the Thompson's fall, after which we will proceed with our journey and should arrive at the camp for a late lunch. In the afternoon, you will have a guided hike in the Mt. Kenya forest in the evening you will be served with tea followed by dinner.

DAY 5: MOUNT KENYA

  • 0830hrs ? ETD camp

  • 0930hrs ? ETA Park gate, start expedition.

  • 1000hrs ? acclimatization hike through the forest.

  • 1400hrs ? ETA MET station and set up base camp at 3,050m, picnic lunch at MET.

  • 1930hrs ? dinner.

DAY 6: MOUNT KENYA

  • 0700hrs ? wake up call.

  • 0730hrs ? breakfast and begin to hike!

  • 0900hrs ? start tackling the "vertical bog."

  • 1300hrs ? lunch at picnic rocks.

  • 1500hrs ? ETA ridge overlooking the Teleki Valley [4,000m].

  • 1700hrs ? ETA Mackinder?s Camp at 4,200m.

  • 1830hrs ? dinner

DAY 7: MOUNT KENYA, DAWN ATTACK

  • 0000hrs ? wake up call.

  • 0030hrs ? begin dawn attack!

  • 0500hrs ? ETA Pt.Lenana at 4,985m.

  • 0530hrs ? descent to Mackinder?s camp.

  • 0900hrs ? ETA Mackinder?s camp for breakfast.

  • 1000hrs ? decent for base camp.

  • 1600hrs ? ETA base camp.

DAY 8: MOUNT KENYA - TIMAU

  • 0800hrs ? wake up call.

  • 0830hrs ? breakfast.

  • 1000hrs ? decamp and leave for Park gate.

  • 1200hrs ? ETA Park gate.

  • 1230hrs ? picnic lunch at the gate.

  • 1300hrs ? ETD Naromoru.

  • 1500hrs ? ETA Timau, set up camp.

  • 1930hrs ? dinner. 

DAY 9: TIMAU - SAMBURU

We will start the day off with an early breakfast and then decamp and head out for Samburu. Enroute, we will stop over at the Equator line and then proceed with our safari. We should arrive at the camp towards mid day and will have a game drive enroute to the camp. Once at camp, have our lunch and set up camp. At 1600hrs, we will set out for an evening game drive and return to camp at 1830hrs in time for tea, followed by dinner.

DAY 10: SAMBURU

We will start off the day with an early wake up call at 0600hrs. After a quick cup of tea, we will head out for an early morning game drive and return back to camp at 0930hrs, for breakfast. After breakfast, you will spend the day at the camp, which is situated on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. Lunch will be served on the river banks, and in the afternoon, at 1600hrs, we will depart for an evening game drive, to return to camp at 1830hrs for evening tea, to be followed by dinner.

DAY 11: SAMBURU - NAIROBI

After breakfast, we will decamp and head back for Nairobi. As we head to the gate we will have a game drive and will stop over enroute for a picnic lunch. We will arrive back at Nairobi late in the afternoon, to wind up a camping safari holiday well spent! We will then drop you off at your hotel.
