NCS24: The Best of Africa Safari [13 days] – Mara, Nakuru, Baringo, Naivasha, Amboseli, Tsavo West.
Itinerary: DAY 1: NAIROBI - MAASAI MARA We will come and pick your from the pick you up from your hotel, and depart from it by 0730hrs for the Mara via the old escarpment road. Before heading out of Nairobi, we will stop over at a convenience store so that you may but your desired drinks and drinking water. Enroute, we will stop over at the Rift Valley view point where you will be able to take loads of pictures of the scenery. We will then descend into the Rift Valley and cross over to Narok town. Here we will have a short break and then proceed to the Mara. We should be in the Mara towards early afternoon and we will have a game drive as we proceed to camp. At camp, we will have a late lunch, set up camp and leave for an evening game drive at 1600hrs. We will return to camp around 1830hrs for evening tea, to be followed by dinner later on. DAY 2: MARA, WHOLE DAY GAME DRIVE We start off the day early with a wake up call at 0600hrs. After a quick cup of tea, we depart for our early morning game drive at 0630hrs to seek out the big cats amongst the other vast variety of wildlife in the Mara. We will then return to camp at 0930hrs for breakfast. After freshening up, we will depart towards late morning for a picnic lunch on the Mara River and a whole day’s game drive. We will return to camp at 1830hrs for tea and followed by dinner. DAY 3: MARA - WALKING SAFARI & EVENING GAME DRIVE We start off the day early with a wake up call at 0600hrs. After a quick cup of tea, we depart for our morning walking safari at 0630hrs. At 0700hrs, you will be taken to the drop off point, along with the maasai trackers. We will pick you up at 0930hrs from the pick up point and bring you back to camp for breakfast. After breakfast, we will spend the afternoon at camp and also have lunch here. In the late afternoon, at 1600hrs, we will depart for our evening game drive and return to camp at 1830hrs for tea and dinner. After dinner, you will be entertained with traditional Maasai dances by the campfire. One of the Maasai dancers will also talk to you about their cultural practises. DAY 4: MARA - NAKURU After an early breakfast, we will pack up and head out of the camp by 0730hrs. You will have a game drive enroute to the park gate and we will then head to Nakuru with a short stop over in Narok. In “Mai Mahiu” town, we will stop over once again for a picnic lunch. We should arrive in Nakuru Park towards mid afternoon and have a game drive as we head to camp. Pending on our time schedule, once we have set up camp, we will head out for an evening game drive. During the game drive, we will head to the lake shore, where you will have a chance to see the fabulous pink Flamingos in the lake. We will then return to camp at 1830hrs for dinner. DAY 5: LAKE NAKURU – LAKE BARINGOWe start off the day early with a wake up call at 0600hrs. After a quick cup of tea, we depart for our early morning game drive at 0630hrs. During the game drive we will focus on seeking out Rhinos, as Nakuru park is one of the biggest Rhino Sanctuaries in the world. We will also visit the Makalia Falls and Baboon Cliffs look out. We will return to camp at 0930hrs for breakfast. After a late breakfast, we will decamp and head out to Baringo. We will arrive at camp towards mid day and have a picnic lunch at camp. After lunch , we will set up camp and spend the afternoon at camp. Dinner will be served in the evening. DAY 6: LAKE BARINGOThe day starts off with an early morning call and after a quick cup of tea; you will head out for a boat ride on the Lake. Here you will have the opportunity to see the profusion birdlife of Baringo and also get close to Hippos and Crocodiles… a game drive on boat, an experience of a kind. While on the lake, we will attempt to feed the Fish Eagles. It is quite dramatic to see them diving down to the surface of the lake to take the fish, a picture worth capturing. We will then stop over at an island, where you will have a short walking safari around the island and return to the boat. After the boat ride, we will return to camp for breakfast. We will then spend the rest of the day at camp, relaxing under the shade of trees and have a picnic lunch by the lake. It is worth noting, the variety of birds that one can identify while at camp. DAY 7: BARINGO - NAIVASHAThe day starts off with an early morning call and after a quick cup of tea; you will head out for a boat ride on the Lake. Here you will have the opportunity to see the profusion birdlife of Baringo and also get close to Hippos and Crocodiles… a game drive on boat, an experience of a kind. After the boat ride, we will return to camp for breakfast and then decamp and head to Naivasha. We should arrive at the camp towards early afternoon, where you will have your lunch. Later on in the evening you could go for a walk to the lakeshore. In the evening you will be served with dinner. DAY 8: NAIVASHA - HELL'S GATE PARK After a late breakfast, we will depart for Hell’s gat park. Upon reaching the park, we will stopover at the various rock faces and also take you to the gorge. You will have your lunch in the park and after lunch we will return to camp. In the lateafternoon you will have the opportunity to relax at the camp and freshen up for the rest of the safari. DAY 9: NAIVASHA – AMBOSELI After breakfast, we will decamp and head out for Amboseli. We will stop over enroute in Nairobi where you will have a chance to buy drinks from a convenience store if you so wish. We will then proceed with our journey to Amboseli. Pending on our time schedule, we should be in Amboseli for a late lunch. After setting up camp in the afternoon, we will head out for an evening game drive at 1600hrs. We will return to camp at 1830hrs for tea and dinner. DAY 10: AMBOSELI We begin the day with an early morning game drive and then return to camp for breakfast. We will again head out to the swamps, as there is always a concentration of wildlife here. Being permanent, you are bound to find Hippos cooling off in them. The bird life here is prolific as well; it is a bird watchers haven! Towards mid-day, we will depart from the camp for the observation hill for a picnic lunch. This is a vantage point in Amboseli which overlooks the swamps and deserts in the park. Right in front of the observation lies the majestic snow capped Mt. Kilimanjaro. After lunch, we will return to camp to freshen up and get ready for our evening game drive which will commence at 1600hrs and we return to camp at 1830hrs. DAY 11: AMBOSELI – TSAVO WEST After breakfast, we will decamp and leave for Tsavo West. On our way to Tsavo, we will stop over at the ‘shetani’ lava flow. This 200year old, consolidated lava flow extends for as far as the eye can see. Legend has it that many people were buried by the lava flow and their cries can be heard on certain nights. Upon arrival to Tsavo National park, we will head to camp and set up camp. We will the head out to the Mzima Springs underground water tank observatory, where we will have a guided walk around the fresh water springs which is home to hippos, crocodiles and numerous fish. The stream has crystal clear water and it interconnects two large pools that are home to crocodiles and hippos. After the walk, we will have a picnic lunch here, and then proceed with our game drive, returning to camp in the evening. DAY 12: TSAVO WEST We will start off with an early morning game drive and return to camp at 0930hrs for breakfast. After breakfast, we will spend the day at camp, giving you a chance to relax and have an afternoon siesta; we will also have lunch here. In the late afternoon, at 1600hrs, we will depart for our evening game drive and return to camp at 1830hrs for tea and dinner DAY 13: TSAVO WEST - NAIROBI After an early breakfast, we will pack up and head back to Nairobi. Enroute, we will stop over for a picnic lunch. We should arrive back in Nairobi towards mid afternoon, to wind up your safari and will drop you off at your hotel.
