CHALBI DESERT: 800 km from Nairobi.
The little known Chalbi Desert stretches across the Northern face of Kenya, from Marsabit right across to Turkana. This vast landscape is all but barren land that starts off as semi - arid vegetation and rolls out into volcanic terrain and sand dunes. The terrain across the Chalbi is very grueling and the weather gets really hot, this place is not for the faint hearted. The desert has patches of ancient Lava flow and boulders that stretch as far as the eye can see. In certain parts there are no roads and we have to drive over these boulders. There are no roads here and it is extremely hot, Occasionally, one does come across nomads taking their camels for water to a nearby oasis.
