E-Mail: ngurumansafaris@bizland.com Expedition Activities The entire course of the expedition is based on NATIONAL ACTIVITIES, TRIBAL ACTIVITIES and INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITIES. National Activities: These are Activities that are carried out by the Entire Nation; all the tribes or by two or more tribes. Any matters that need attention while conducting these activities could be raised during a National Counsel. The following are National Activities:
Every night after dinner, selected TRIBES prepare an entertainment program for the entire NATION. Depending on the size of the NATION, for this activity the TRIBES are divided equally into entertainment groups. Apart from having a good laugh and unwinding after a day's activity, camp entertainment boosts an individuals confidence since he/she has to perform in front of the entire NATION. This activity also turns the cogs of creativity in one's mind since ideas have to be turned into activities to be performed, within a short period of time.
This is a rock climbing activity whereby all the TRIBES will attempt to climb a rock face under the guidance and supervision of a professional rock climber. The simplest rock face is selected so as to ensure that the activity doesn't drain the TRIBESMEN. During this activity, TRIBES are paired up and they have until when the other pair arrives to climb and abseil the rock face. This activity is more or less geared towards fun and physical endurance. It also teaches members of an organization to plan themselves in order to meet deadlines. The activity also teaches one to work in harmony with other teams, in order to achieve results. If the TRIBES fail to achieve this, they shall be summoned before the NATIONAL COUNSEL whereby they shall justify their actions. Upon listening to the case of the tribes, the NATIONAL COUNSEL shall then decide the fate of the tribes.
The CORPORATE INITIATIVES EXPEDITION winds up with a climb up Mt. Longonot. During this activity, all the tribes attempt to ascend the mountain as an entire NATION. At the end of the climb, the Nation has lunch together at the base and certificates are awarded to the participants of the Corporate Initiative Expedition. Tribal Activities: These are activities that are conducted independently by each tribe. The core of the Corporate Initiative Expedition is based around these activities. Tribal activities are meant to train an individual to work together as a team rather than "go it alone in the corporate jungle." It also gives one the opportunity to enhance his/her leadership skills as one is able to take charge of the TRIBE in order to steer it through the expedition. Through the Tribal Activities, one is able to appreciate the diversity of racial and tribal denominations rather than ridicule and discriminate them.
This is a rib tickling activity that kicks off at the campsite and is tackled with patience and team coordination. The members of a TRIBE are linked to one another by two bamboo poles. These poles are tied to each one's ankles, such that the members form a single profile and are all facing one another; forming a "human locomotive". Every step taken by the TRIBAL LOCOMOTIVE has to be synchronized, or else a member will be caught out of step causing the TRIBE to "derail". Once all the TRIBAL LOCOMOTIVE engines have been fired up, they descend from the camp headed for the "Task Junction." This is the Central Point for all the activities of theexpedition. The TRIBAL LOCOMOTIVE that reaches the rendezvous first has the advantage of choosing the next activity that they would like to undertake.
This activity kicks off at the "Task Junction." It is an approximately 2.5 kilometer trek to the Canyon on a fairly flat terrain. During the Trek, TRIBESMEN will be able to see a variety of wildlife from a safe distance. Gazelles, Impalas, Giraffes and Zebras are some of the animals that can be seen during the walk. For those who are keen on bird watching, apart from a variety of birds, Vultures can be spotted nesting in some of the rock-faces. The Tribal Trek gives the TRIBE an opportunity to spend quality time together, in a beautiful and serene environment. This activity ends at the start of the Canyon Challenge.
This is a grueling walk through the Ol-Njowa Canyon. Apart from the physical strain, the Challenge is a beautiful walk through rock-faces, river and water falls in Wild Africa. The TRIBE'S mission is to navigate its way into, through and out of the canyon. No maps are provided, except for descriptions of various landmarks to lookout for; it is entirely up to the TRIBE to find their way through. The Canyon Challenge is the ultimate "TEAM SPIRIT TEASER", TRIBESMEN have to think as one in order to navigate their way through. In certain sections they will have to physically support one another in order to make it through the slippery, steep and wet terrain.
The Corporate Plunge takes place at the TASK JUNCTION. It is the last activity in the field before the TRIBAL RAIL heads back to camp. Upon reaching the junction, each TRIBESMAN will have the opportunity to jump backwards off the bumper of one of our trucks and into the arms of his/her fellow tribesmen. The concept behind this activity is to train one to trust his/her workmates and also, to enable the workmates to take charge of situations. The member taking the "plunge" stands on the truck with his/her back facing the TRIBE. The TRIBESMEN on the other hand stand at the bottom facing one another with their arms stretched out to one another. The member taking the plunge then falls into the arms of his/her TRIBE.
This is the last obstacle for the TRIBES to overcome in order to make it back to camp. The TRIBE has to find its way through a web that is made of sisal ropes. This web blocks the path that leads back into camp. One member of the TRIBE is allowed to crossover to the other side in order to guide fellow TRIBESMEN through. One by one, a member is carried and passed through the various gaps in the net. Upon completing this task successfully, the TRIBE has access to the camp. Individual Activities: There is only one individual activity, Soul Searching. It is meant for reflection on the past, present and future. One is meant to isolate himself/herself during this time and write down their thoughts. The Tribal Counsel: This is a meeting held by every tribe on an independent basis. It is meant for reflection on the activities being conducted during the expedition. During this meeting, Tribesmen identify weaknesses in one another's characters and how best to improve them. They could also discuss outcomes of the day and also voice admiration in certain traits in their fellow tribesmen. The purpose of the Tribal Counsel is to recognize positive traits in your fellow tribesmen and also to give constructive criticism where necessary. The Counsel could also be used to map out strategies for conducting operations within the tribe and to improve on mistakes made during the day's activities. If a particular TRIBE has issues to discuss with a Neighboring TRIBE, then a NATIONAL COUNSEL is held. This is a special event whereby the other Tribes participate as witnesses. An ARBITRATOR is elected from among the Witnessing Tribe through a secret ballot conducted by the entire Nation and he/she chairs the National Counsel until the differences between the tribes have been resolved.
