Time difference: GMT + 2hours.

Immigration: Visa requirements vary, for details contact the Kenya High Commission or any airline office in your country.

Currency: The unit of our currency is the Kenya Shilling. Notes come in denominations such as Kshs.50, Kshs.100, Kshs.200, Kshs.500 and Kshs.1000. It is advisable to convert your foreign exchange only in banks, Bureau de change or authorized hotels. Defacement of the Kenyan currency is an indictable offence.

Banks: Hours of business are between 9AM and 3PM during weekdays and 9AM to 11AM on Saturdays. There are a number of major international banks in Nairobi with branches throughout the country.

Health: it is advisable to take anti-malaria tablets 2 weeks before your arrival, during your stay in Kenya and also for 2weeks after your departure. Kenya has very well equipped hospitals, especially in Nairobi. The flying doctors service is also available.

Language: Our national language is Kiswahili but English is spoken and understood almost everywhere.

Electricity: The electricity supply in Kenya is 220/240 volts, 50HZ. Three pin square sockets are the most common sockets used.

Park fee: it is the entrance fee paid at the gates of the National Parks. The revenue collected from the park fee is used to maintain the National Park.

Climate: Kenya has two rainy seasons, October to December and March to early June. Our "winter" is between June and July. During the day, temperatures could vary from 200 C to 240 C and night time 100 C.

Drinking Water: bottled drinking water is easily available and one litre of water costs less than a dollar, approximately US$0.8.
