MARSABIT: 550 km from Nairobi.

Marsabit is towards the North East of Nairobi, past Samburu game reserve. It is a land with numerous dormant volcanoes, famously known as "The Talking Craters"; because of the sound made by the wind that blows within the walls of these craters.  It is one of the stop over points for our safaris that run across the Chalbi desert.

Marsabit is on the South East edge of the Chalbi Desert. The National Park lies around Mt. Marsabit [1702 m].  It is an area with extinct volcanoes and craters with thickly forested hills amidst desert. The dense vegetation on the hills is due to hot air rising from the desert that cools and condenses on the mountain. This as a result, brings mist and rain to the area. The national park is home to various animals which include Oryx, Greater Kudu, Gravy Giraffe and Elephants. In the crater of Mt. Marsabit lies the aptly named “Lake Paradise.”
