NAIVASHA: 86 km from Nairobi.

Naivasha also boasts having, with hippos. It is the highest fresh water lake in the world and a world wetlands heritage site. We use it as a stop over for quite a few of our safaris as it is ideally located for breaking a journey. As Karen Blixen wrote, "it is absolutely delightful here. I think that Naivasha is a paradise on earth, with the water and the mountains around the lake, and the air so lovely around here …" Mt. Longonot is found on the outskirts of Naivasha. It is a dormant mountain with a huge crater and can be climbed and descended in a day.

It isone of the best place in Kenya for bird watching with 346 species of bird living around the Lake. Pelicans, Herons [and the beautiful Giant Goliath Heron], Storks, Kingfishers, Hamerkop, Egrets, Cormorants, Ibis, Red knobbed Coots and Fish Eagles are predominant.
