NAKURU: 167 km from Nairobi.

Lake Nakuru is amongst the famous Lakes of the Great Rift Valley. It is home to the Flamingos and has been described as "the most fabulous bird spectacle in the world" by many ornithologists. Depending on the season, one can see between 10,000, 100,000 or even 1,000,000 flamingos! Apart from the beautiful pink sea of Flamingos, 400 species of birds have also been recorded to nest in this park!

Nakuru National Park is the biggest Rhino sanctuary in the world, with a population of over 72 Rhinos. One is bound to sight these magnificent creatures grazing around the Lakeshore. In terms of wildlife, four of the Big Five can be seen in this park: Lion, Buffalo, Leopard and Rhino. Water Bucks, Impalas, Zebras, Lions, Giraffes, Colobus monkeys, Hippos and Baboons are also resident in the park.

60% of the National park is covered by the Lake. It was demarcated as a park in order to protect the bird species in and around the lake, especially the Flamingos. The landscape around the Lake is also very hilly and there are loads of cliffs around. One of the major observation points  that overlooks the lake is on the edge of one of the cliff.
